How to join a CS2 server

Three ways to connect to a Counter-Strike 2 server and what to do if it fails.

1. Play button

  1. Open the server list and press Play.
  2. Allow the browser to open Steam.
  3. CS2 launches and connects to the server.

2. Console

  1. In CS2 open Settings → Game and enable the developer console.
  2. Press ~ to open the console.
  3. Type connect with the address, e.g. connect 95.213.255.150:27015, and press Enter.

3. Favorites

  1. In CS2 open Play → Community Server Browser.
  2. Go to Favorites and add the IP with port.
  3. The server stays in your list for quick access.

If you cannot connect

Version mismatch or connection rejected

Update CS2 in Steam. Servers update within minutes after a patch.

Server is full

Pick another server of the same mode – Random Round and Duel have several.

Endless loading

Restart Steam and verify game files. Maps and models download on first join and can take a while.

Play button does nothing

Make sure Steam is installed and running, or use the console.
